Description

Airmail exclusive handbuilt wooden model 1: 100 with landing gear, metal stand and  transparent ciockpit windows.
This version of the Turboliner is built reflecting the Swissair livery of the fifties in white.
The Swiss industrial company Escher-Wyss was involved with turbine development in the 1940's of the last century. Following the end of the war, a new engines was presented for a passenger aircraft that had yet to be developed in Switzerland. This with the idea of building up a Swiss aviation industry. The “Turboliner” should offer space for around 65 passengers, a range of around 3,500 kilometers and a speed of around 600 km / h.
The Escher-Wyss “Turboliner” was to be built either at the Dornier works in Altenrhein or at Pilatus AG in Stans. However, the project was abandoned before the end of 1945, mainly due to financial problems.
Based on two hand-painted pictures and a few simple sketches, we have commissioned the Turboliner as a handbuilt model for in different versions.
(Much appreciated support by Werner Soltermann, Basel for idea and information).
